Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program

We want to provide you with the tools and skills necessary to start a new career path. Our Heavy Equipment Operator program will open doors for you career wise. Whether you would like to have better employment opportunities for yourself or you’re a business owner looking to train and certify your crew, we offer an affordable and committed heavy equipment operator program.  Through this program,                       Columbus Training Center provides multiple certifications for operating heavy equipment and powered industrial trucks. As a result, graduates of this program find successful careers on construction and landscaping projects. Lecture portion covers instruction and general background knowledge on equipment, providing a good base for theoretical knowledge. Hands-on segment gives students the opportunity to drive and operate a variety of equipment including forklift/hi-lo’s, skid steers, backhoes, front end loaders, excavators, and lifts.

Topics covered include OSHA rules and regulations, job-site safety, reading grade levels, identifying soils, machine inspection and maintenance, and job-site layout. It’s crucial for students to be able to perform their job efficiently and in the safest way possible. Ultimately, we want job employment to increase in Columbus and help its residents grow personally and community wise. Furthermore, job placement assistance is provided to our graduates of this program.

Blight Removal Training Program

Our goal is to help residents better themselves and their communities, by giving them the set of tools and knowledge needed to have productive and functional jobs. Columbus Training Center offers students a way into the blight removal industry through this program. This is a dramatically growing industry, especially in the greater Columbus area because many houses are in need of lead and asbestos abatement for renovation and demolition. The courses selected for this program prepare the worker for the rigors of the job. Commercial Driver’s License Training Program

Our program consists on both theoretical and practical knowledge. Comprehensive textbook material covers the general knowledge regarding CMV like basic responsibilities, inspections, air brakes, combination vehicles, and safety. The hands-on material consists on line backing, right backing, offset left backing, coupling of trailers, 90 degree alley docking, and a behind the wheel examination.

Logistics Training Program

logistics noun. the detailed coordination of a complex operation involving many people, facilities, or supplies.

Our Logistics Worker training program is an entry level 2 week intensive program that prepares students for work in the logistics industry. Students will receive hands-on training in the operation of both stand-up and sit-down forklifts. In-depth lectures and course materials will cover topics such as inventory management, soft skills, and OSHA 10 safe procedures.

Forklift Operator Training

Columbus Training Center offers this course to cover the effective, safe, and efficient use of powered industrial trucks/forklifts. Students receive lecture-based instruction to develop general knowledge on the equipment prior to attending hands-on instruction where they will have the opportunity to drive the equipment. Certificate is provided upon completion of the course at the end of the day.

First Aid / CPR

first aid noun. help given to sick or injured person until full medical treatment is available.

CTC designed this course to provide students with the knowledge and experience to respond to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. Learning to recognize and respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies is vital to any individual working closely with others or on a team. CPR is cardiopulmonary resuscitation. You will leave with your certification.

OSHA 10 – CONSTRUCTION

osha noun. occupational safety and health administration.

This two-day OSHA 10 course is essential to workers in every trade within the construction industry. It is intended to introduce students to the basic practices of identifying, reducing, eliminating, and reporting hazards associated with their project. CTC provides training for students on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in the construction industry. In-depth lecture covers fall protection, ladder and scaffold safety, general electrical safety, and general construction safety. Students receive a certificate of completion and their OSHA 10 Construction Safety or General Industry Safety License after completing the course.

HAZWOPER

hazwoper noun. hazardous waste operations and emergency response is a set of guidelines produce and maintained by the occupational safety and health administration regulating hazardous waste operations and emergency services in the U.S.

Hazardous materials can create significant safety issues for employees. HAZWOPER Training from the Columbus Training Center is designed for those individuals who will be responsible for responding to hazardous materials situations on construction and facility maintenance sites. The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response standard (HAZWOPER) applies to five distinct groups of employers and their employees. This includes any employees who are exposed or potentially exposed to hazardous substances–including hazardous waste–and who are engaged in one of the following operations as specified by 1910.120(a)(1)(i-v) and 1926.65(a)(1)(i-v): clean-up operations–required by a governmental body, whether federal, state, local, or other involving hazardous substances–that are conducted at uncontrolled hazardous waste sites; corrective actions involving clean-up operations at sites covered by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 (RCRA) as amended (42 U.S.C. 6901 et seq.); voluntary clean-up operations at sites recognized by federal, state, local, or other governmental body as uncontrolled hazardous waste sites; operations involving hazardous wastes that are conducted at treatment, storage, and disposal facilities regulated by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Parts 264 and 265 pursuant to RCRA, or by agencies under agreement with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to implement RCRA regulations; and emergency response operations for releases of, or substantial threats of releases of, hazardous substances regardless of the location of the hazard.
